Catholic brd. to hold two-day conference on family

The Holy Family Roman Catholic Separate School Division will be holding a two-day conference on the family and its importance to Catholic education.

The conference will be held on Thursday and Friday, Oct. 13 and 14, at McKenna Hall, starting with an evening session on Oct. 13.

The conference will feature three main speakers.

The first is Father Jack Gallagher, who will speak on the topic of the parish, church and school in the moral development of the child. Fr. Gallagher is currently the president of Newman Theological College, and has been a priest since 1960.

The next speaker is Tom Owens, who will talk on "A response to Bethlehem - Families in 2005." He is a pastoral associate at St. Joseph's in Moose Jaw, and was the coordinator of Catholic education for the Regina Catholic School Division for many, as well as being a Religious Studies teacher at the U of R.

The final speaker is Miles Meyers, who will focus on how the home, school and parish can get beyond blaming each other to work together on passing on the faith to young people.

He is currently the coordinator of Catholic education for Regina Catholic Schools, and has been an instructor for the past nine years in the Youth Ministry Studies Certificate program.
