Apache Canada's Midale CO2 Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) Project is progressing according to schedule. On Sept. 30, the commissioning of the CO2 delivery pipeline from the Goodwater terminal of the Souris Valley Pipeline to the Midale Central Treating Plant was completed. The acceptance of CO2 for injection under the contract with Dakota Gasification Company has commenced. Currently, CO2 is being injected into one well at a rate of approximately 2 mmscf/d. Apache expects to increase this volume to 5 mmscf/d by the end of October and to 10 mmscf/d as construction continues to add more wells and facilities for injection. The acceptance of full volumes, which is 25 mmscf/d, is expected by the third quarter of 2006. "Eventually, we will set up to our capacity," said Dennis Krainyk of Apache Canada. Krainyk believes the next step for Apache is continuing with construction in the fields. |
