Young girl cuts hair for cancer

Dana Chapman, centre, holds up the 11-inch length of her hair she had cut in a bid to raise money for a youth cancer camp. Dana is surrounded by friends, who gathered at the Yellow Grass Library to watch her get her hair cut by mother Bonnie, and to colour pictures entitled, Flame of Hope. Dana sold 80 bracelets to fellow students at Yellow Grass School, plus people gave her donations, and raised a total of $300, with some pledges yet to come in. In addition to the funds, she will send the hair to a wig-maker in Vancouver, who will make the hair into a wig for a child cancer patient who has lost hair due to cancer treatment.
