City police ask for help in investigation of an assault

The Weyburn city police are asking for the public's assistance in their investigation of an assault on a woman near the Signal Hill Arts Centre.

Police say the woman was walking her dog on the trails near Signal Hill on Sept. 24 around 4:30 p.m. When she returned to her vehicle, a male described as around 16 to 18 years old was sitting on the bumper of her vehicle.

She asked him to move, and she claims he then assaulted her by pulling her hair, stomping on her arm and punching her. The woman was able to get away from him, and the male fled the scene.

The male is described as having black hair that is short in front and longer in back, weighs approximately 150 pounds, and was wearing a black shirt with white writing on the front, and a white circle with white writing on the back.

City police are also investigating the theft of a deposit bag from Access Communications in Weyburn on Oct. 21. The bag contained cash and cheques, and a key for the cash drawer was also taken.

Weyburn police received a report of a scam letter on Oct. 19 being sent in the mail. The letter claims an ad was placed in a publication called the Fair Guide as a promotional item. A company called Construct Data then sends an invoice for thousands of dollars to the potential victim.

Police are also investigating a report of damage to the washrooms at River Park on Sept. 23. The culprit or culprits broke toilet tanks and mirrors in all three bathrooms.

The Weyburn RCMP are investigating damages done to road signs in the RM of Lomond. The damages occurred some time over night from Sept. 29 to 30, when an unknown vehicle knocked down five road signs at the intersection of Highway 705 and a service grid road. The vehicle may have been a late 70s or early 80s larger model Chrysler.

If anyone has information on any of these offences, they are asked to call the police, or call the toll-free Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers tips line at 1-800-222-8477. Crime Stoppers will pay a cash reward of up to $2,000 for information that leads to the arrest of those responsible. Crime Stoppers does not trace or record calls, and does not subscribe to call display.
