Gustafson family marks 100th year of homestead

Relatives and friends of the Gustafson family gathered over the summer to celebrate the Centennial of the Gustafson homestead in the Goodwater area this past year.

Conrad and Ida Gustafson migrated from Wheaton, Minn., in 1905, and the farm still remains within the family today.

The family gathered at the home of Dorothy Bakusko in Weyburn for the celebration of Marvin and Mary Larson's 60th wedding anniversary. They are cousins of the Gustafson family and reside in Outlook.

Later family members travelled to the homestead for renewal of many happy memories of growing up there, spending picnics and Christmas dinners with turkey and eating lutefisk.

The family also visited the cemetery where their grandparents, parents, brothers and sisters were buried.

A banquet was held in Goodwater Hall, followed by a program and historical slides. A Sunday morning brunch was held at Dorothy's house.

Relatives came from B.C., Alberta, Ontario, Tennessee and many parts of Saskatchewan.
