Comp School working on production

Tickets are now on sale for the upcoming presentation of "Anne of Green Gables" at the Weyburn Comprehensive School. The play version of this classic Canadian story will take place on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 9 and 10, at 7:30 p.m., and on Sunday, Dec. 11 at 2 p.m. The price of admission is $6 for adults and $4 for students. Tickets are available at the school.

Music students are preparing for their annual Christmas concerts, which will be held on Thursday, Dec. 8 and Tuesday, Dec. 13. The Comp choirs have also been invited to return to the Regina Rotary Carol Festival in the first week of December.

Parent-teacher-student interviews will be held tonight, Nov. 9, and Thursday morning, Nov. 10. There will be no school for students on Thursday as a result, and Friday is a holiday due to Remembrance Day. There is also no school on Friday, Nov. 18, as the teachers complete the second day of their professional development unit.

In volleyball action over the weekend, the junior boys finished their season by placing fifth in a tournament in Lumsden, and the senior boys lost to Estevan in the quarter-finals of a tournament in Yorkton. The senior teams will compete in regionals this weekend, with the senior girls off to Swift Current and the boys to Yorkton.

The top three teams from these playoffs will advance to the provincials the following week, but as Weyburn is hosting the girls provincials they are automatically in the event. The 5A SHSAA Girls Volleyball Provincials start on Friday, Nov. 18 at 2 p.m., and continue through to the evening of Saturday, Nov. 19.
