Weyburn's first-ever provincial volleyball champs

The Weyburn Comp Eagles senior girls volleyball team show off the trophy and medals they won as the 5A Provincial Girls Champions, after defeating Saskatoon's St. Joseph's High School two sets to one in the gold medal finals on Saturday evening. In the back row are coaches Katie Fong, Leah Watson and Blake Johnson; in the second row are Andie Watson, Maegan Biss, Anna Semen and Sarah Croft. In the third row are Milessa Peterson, Shealese Haupstein, Meagan Onstad, Katie Unraw, Ashley Betker, Vanessa Wick and Karly Johnson, and in front are Jaynel Mann and Heidi Smith. The girls defeated all four teams in the round-robin portion of the tournament Friday and Saturday to finish first in their pool, and then defeated Yorkton for the right to advance to the gold medal game. Perusing the Festival of Trees

City Centre Mall patrons take a tour through the Festival of Trees on Saturday afternoon, during open display time. Besides these trees, all decorated by various companies, groups and individuals around the city, there are several items up for bid on the silent auction table. The proceeds from the sale of all items will go to benefit the Family Place and their programs.
