For the second week, Weyburn city police are investigating three more residential break-ins, and have charged an individual for a break-in into a garage. Police say on Sunday night or early Monday morning, three residences were broken into with items stolen, on Dieppe Drive, Scott Street and First Avenue N.W. No suspects have been charged in these break-ins. In a separate incident, an 18-year-old male has been arrested and charged with break-and-enter, after a garage had been broken into on Sunday night. Police subsequently searched a home and the male was charged, and he will make his first court appearance in the near future. In light of these recent break-ins, following on the heels of three other residential break-ins the week before, police Inspector Russ Chartrand asks that residents take precautions, particularly with the Christmas season approaching. He suggested residents could leave their lights on to make it appear someone is at home, or have neighbours keep an eye on the property to watch for any suspicious behaviour. Residents are also advised to keep vehicles locked and items hidden, particularly shopping parcels or other valuables. Police also investigated an incident on Sunday afternoon, when a youth confronted two young girls and showed them a knife, and started acting out. Police said he didn't threaten the girls with the knife. The youth will make an appearance in provincial court today, Nov. 23, charged with possession of a dangerous weapon. |
