Over 700 spectators took in the performances of Anne of Green Gables by the Drama Club at the Weyburn Comprehensive School over the past weekend. Kendra McCallum and Janine Beahm amazed the crowd with the number of lines they had to learn and their stage presence, and an incredible performance was staged by all of the cast members.

On Sunday, there will be a potluck supper at the school to honour the 2005 5A Provincial Girls Volleyball Champions, the WCS Eagles senior girls' squad.

The SRC will hold a school dance on Friday evening, Dec. 16, and the annual Christmas assembly will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 21. The Christmas break starts on Dec. 22 and runs until the morning of Jan. 9, when classes resume.

In basketball action, the senior boys will host an eight-team tournament at the Comp gym on Friday and Saturday, while the senior girls will play in Fillmore.

Over the past weekend, the senior girls defeated the Meadow Lake Spartans, last year's provincial champions, in the championship game at a tournament held in Caronport. The senior boys lost in the B final at a tournament in Prince Albert. The junior girls were unable to attend a tournament in Swift Current due to bad roads.
