The 2005 school year is in its final day at the Weyburn Comprehensive School, with only the Christmas Assembly left to be held today before students are off for the holidays. School resumes after the Christmas break on Monday, Jan. 9. The two Christmas music concerts were held on Dec. 13 and 14 with over 1,000 people attending the two performances. The "Hallelujah Chorus" at the end of the second concert, performed by the concert choir and combined choir was considered as the highlight of the event. Nearly half the school's population was on stage at one time. The SRC held its annual Christmas dance on Friday with a somewhat small group in attendance. Krysta Buchanan recently attended a Western Canadian Regional for debate in Winnipeg. In basketball, both the senior teams placed second in the tournaments they were involved with. The boys won silver after losing to Estevan in the gold medal match of their home tournament on Friday and Saturday, while the girls lost to the host Fillmore team. Coming up, the senior girls will attend a tournament in Melfort on Jan. 6 and 7. |
