Crocus Plains Villa busy with December activities

The first half of December was extremely busy with various activities for the residents of Crocus Villa, ranging from balloon tennis to dancing and singing groups coming in to perform.

A book club was started and the group met twice to discuss stories from the book, Chicken Soup for the Senior's Soul.

Balloon tennis was a hit, as residents used coat hangers stretched with pantyhose as rackets. A bocci ball game was also held with various winners getting to the small white ball.

Doreen Gillies came in to play piano on Dec. 2. The exercise class has been held twice a week.

The jackpot bingo winners were Malcolm Nelson and John Heier. Chair volleyball and Mind Challenge was held on Dec. 6.

Square dancers came in to perform for the residents, and the Pioneers and the Merry Makers played their music with some residents dancing to the old-time tunes.

A cooking class created a vegetable soup on Dec. 9, with residents helping by chopping carrots and onions.

On Dec. 10, residents had an outing to the Farmers' Market at the mall, and residents purchased some baking for their families. The same day the Zion Lutheran choir came in to perform Christmas carols.

The ladies afternoon had the home's women out for manicures and some wine and cheese, and Tim Horton's was the second outing of the month.

Beatrice and Gary Sidloski came to play piano and guitar and to sing on Dec. 15, and residents read current events in the local paper.

A discussion of Ripley's Believe It or Not was enjoyed by the residents, and get-well wishes went out to Jim Kennedy and Susie Klippenstein.
