CBC show comes to Weyburn

CBC Radio host Sheila Coles, left, jokes with Weyburn business owners Andrew and Alison Shanaida during an interview with them on her morning show, broadcast live on Monday morning from the T.C. Douglas Centre. The Shanaidas spoke to her about why they came back to Weyburn from Alberta to set up their machining business as a part of the local oilpatch, while local residents were able to sit in to hear the live broadcast. The CBC interviewed a number of local residents also about Tommy Douglas, including Don Goranson and Hugh Alexander, in conjunction with the release of the new movie about the life of Tommy Douglas which will air on March 12 and 13.

Lionness donates to Soo Line Day Care

Some of the children attending the Soo Line Day Care try out the two children's tables donated by the Weyburn Lionness Club on Friday morning. In the back from left are Lori Hiltz of the day care, and Lionness members Marg Leavens, past president, Jan Frayn and Elaine Myer. The tables are to be part of the new equipment the day care will need in their expanded quarters under renovations at the Elgin Mall. The day care is hopeful they can open the doors at their new location on Monday, April 3, depending on how the renovations go.
