Welders on new rig

Welders Dan Schindel and Ed Dunham are busy at work on a platform which will be part of a new drilling rig for Panther Drilling, a company based in Weyburn and owned by Weyburn partners. The project employs seven contract welders along with seven rig hands and two shop employees as it is under construction in the former Weyburn Tractor yard and shop. The local company decided to custom-build their own rig within six to seven months, rather than wait 12-18 months for a rig built in Alberta; this rig will begin drilling by July, when a second rig will be constructed.
