Wayne and Russell Olson show the Wildlife Tomorrow
sign installed on the corner of their farmland, which is being
set aside as a sanctuary for wildlife, particularly birds and
deer. The Olsons have dedicated about 220 acres on their family's
land, located two miles north of Hume east of Weyburn. As part
of the program, the Olsons cannot cut down or remove any of the
trees or natural covering on their land for a five-year period.
The program, through the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation and
the local Weyburn Wildlife Federation, seeks to preserve the
natural habitat for all species of wildlife with voluntary effort
by landowners like the Olsons. |
