Kite builder offers workshops

Ling-Qin "Tim" Huang, from the Club Cafe, displays a butterfly kite that he will be demonstrating how to build during the Weyburn Wheat Festival. Originally from Tai Shan in the province of Guangdong in China, Tim is now a Canadian citizen who lives in Weyburn. There will be a kite building workshop offered for all ages, 3 p.m. on Friday, August 11, and Saturday, August 12, at a tent on the Signal Hill grounds. There will be free demonstrations of how to build a simple kite by Doug Mulhall, and the butterfly kit demonstration by Tim. There is also a $10 box-kite workshop with Pedro Hui, and participants will be able to take their box-kite home with them. This workshop promotes the kite flying activities that will be happening at the field northeast of Signal Hill, where anyone can come up during the two days and fly a kite.
