Vice-principal gets the principal

Weyburn Junior High vice-principal Lars Gunther works in the whipped cream and chocolate pudding into the face of principal Warren Betker, during the school's morning assembly on Friday. The SAC organized the "Pie-in-the-Eye" fundraiser to raise funds for the Communithon by asking students to bid for the chance to throw a pie at their favourite teacher. The event raised just over $400.

Selling poppies for Remembrance Day

Members of Weyburn's Girl Guides gather with the Legion's poppy chairman Allan Day at the cenotaph on Saturday during Poppy Day. From left are Cheyenne Wilson, Pathfinders; Allan Day, Royal Canadian Legion, receiving a poppy from Ashley Koszman, Pathfinders; Hannah Kopytko and Amber Patterson, both Senior Branches; and Sarah Doud, Guides. Brownies and Guides were out in full force selling poppies as were members of Weyburn's Cadet Corps, in preparation for Remembrance Day on Saturday, Nov. 11. The day will begin with a parade and wreath-laying at the cenotaph, then will move inside for the service, with guest speaker Capt. Bob Demencuik of the Cadets. The War Mother this year is Cherry Lackey, who will be laying a wreath on behalf of War Mothers.
