Gathering shoebox gift items

 Students from Grade 2 and their reading buddies from Grade 5/6 gather items from a table of supplies as the two grades pack shoebox gifts for Operation Christmas Child over the lunch hour on Wednesday. The students are, from near left, Ashlee Sandiford, Cole Hastings, Austin Lund, Haley Stearns, Julie Grohn and Sasha Shupe. The items for the shoeboxes were donated by all grades at Assiniboia Park School, and were packed up by these two grades for shipping from the local depot so they can be shipped and distributed in a Third World country in time for Christmas. The school packed and donated over 35 shoebox gifts this year.

Stopping the shot

Goaltender Jason Lindner makes a kick save during the Red Wings' 5-4 overtime loss to the Estevan Bruins on Friday at the Colosseum. Weyburn only picked up one point in the home-and-home series with the Bruins as they lost 4-2 in Estevan on Saturday. The next game for the Red Wings will be Friday, Nov. 24 when they travel to Nipawin to take on the Hawks.
