A new look for a New Year

The trees of River Park along the banks of the Souris River are painted white with fresh hoar frost, which stands out against a brilliant blue sky, to help Weyburn and area residents welcome in the New Year with a fresh winter scene. The winter holiday season is winding down for area school children, who will resume classes once more on Monday, Jan. 8.

Taking shots from close in

Penta Gold Wings players take turns having a shot on the goalie from close in, as Alyssa Kaczmar prepares to shoot the puck at right after getting the rebound from the first shot. The two teams battled closely to a 4-4 tie in this league game held Dec. 22 at the Colosseum, and they didn't solve the impasse in overtime. This was the last game for the Gold Wings until Wednesday, Jan. 10 in Regina.
