The Weyburn Beta Sigma Phi Mumaster Chapter is sponsoring a "Love at First Sound" Valentine choral concert at the Weyburn Comprehensive School Cafetorium on Thursday, Feb. 15, starting at 7:30 p.m.

WCS choirs will be featured along with some ensembles, and this will be the last performance for the Grade 11/12 choir before they go on the provincial stage at Telemiracle in Saskatoon.

The Chinese Acrobats will be coming the Weyburn Comprehensive School on Family Day, which is Monday, Feb. 19, to perform at 7 p.m. This group will be presenting a family show that is sure to entertain people of ages, and the SRC encourages families to come out and celebrate the new provincial Family Day holiday by being together to watch a top-notch performance.

The students of WCS are using this event as a fund raiser for their project with Wheelchair International, an organization dedication to making wheelchairs available around the world for people in need.

The debate team took part in a tournament in Saskatoon this past weekend and returned home with one medal, as Jordan Rederburg was chosen as the top speaker in the southern half of the province. Debaters who are chosen will next be participating in the provincial tournament at Regina LeBoldus on Friday, Feb. 23.

Coming up will be one of the most explosive movie musicals bursting onto the stage at the WCS Cafetorium, as "Footloose" will be performed on Wednesday, May 30, Thursday, May 31, Saturday, June 2, and Sunday, June 3.

To the rocking rhythm of its Oscar and Tony-nominated top 40 score and augmented with dynamic new songs for the stage musical, Footloose celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people, guiding them with a warm heart and an open mind.

Directors and students at the school are eagerly looking forward to this year's production, with casting and practice to being after the Weyburn Music Festival. There are 11 principal characters, six featured actors and a huge singing and dancing ensemble.
