Housing Authority chair honoured for service time

The Weyburn Housing Authority hosted a special event to honour their chairman John Lawrence for his 10 years of volunteer service.

He received a certificate of recognition from the Province of Saskatchewan and a long-service lapel pin from the Saskatchewan Housing Corporation for his years of service.

He was presented a gift by the Weyburn Territory Housing Operations in appreciation for his volunteer time.

Messages of congratulations were given by Mayor Debra Button, Yorkton Territory Housing Operations regional manager Mark Bell, Weyburn Territory Housing Operations area manager Alvena Dubnyk and Community Resources spokesperson Trudy Jackson. Board members of the Housing Authority also passed on messages of congratulations.

The Housing Authority is responsible for 319 housing units in Weyburn, which provides social and affordable housing to seniors, families and persons with disabilities who need suitable accommodations.

The board of directors are volunteers, and currently include chairman John Lawrence, April Sampson, Leslie Smith, Randle Bangsund, Al York, Myron Fletcher and Don Shumlich, and Pam Kwochka is the housing authority manager.
