Warming up for the music festival

Piano students Tylan and Mason Charlton do some finger exercises to warm up for their piano practice at the studio of piano teacher Cherith Alexander on Thursday. Brother and sister are entering the Rotary Music Festival as solo acts, with Tylan working on her pieces 'Playful Puppy' and 'Wallaby Hop', and Mason working on his pieces 'Shanghai Shuffle' and the theme from 'The Simpsons'. They are two of the 18 students that Alexander teaches who will be taking part in the piano portion of the Rotary Music Festival which starts on Monday, Mar. 5.

Ready for takeoff

Children at the sledding hill near Confederation Drive prepare to take off on their sled on Wednesday. From left to right are Noah Vandale, Shelly-Rae Kubashek, Taylor Vandale and Sheldon Kubashek. Although the weather turned bad in the morning, many local children came outside in the afternoon to enjoy their February break.
