Nomination are now being taken for the Southeast Oilman of the Year award which will be given out during the Saskatchewan Oil and Gas Show, which will be held in Weyburn from Wednesday, June 6 to Thursday, June 7. The criteria that will be taken into account include career highlights and achievements, contribution to their community and their work and active and past involvement in the oil, gas or mineral industry. "If anyone knows of someone who should be nominated, they should go ahead and do so," said manager Marlene Nedelcov. Nomination forms are available at the Saskatchewan Oil and
Gas Show web site at "There is always a lot of interest in that right here in this area," Nedelcov said. Currently, organizers are busy lining up speakers for the Saskatchewan Oilpatch Awards luncheon on Wednesday, June 6 and a luncheon on Thursday, June 7. Al Schreiner and Art Dumont of Calgary, who are members of the board of governors, are organizing the awards luncheon and held a kick-off at the Calgary Petroleum Club on Thursday. They also look after nominations for Saskatchewan Oilman of the Year and the Hall of Fame. Booths for this year's oil show are now 94 per cent booked. All of the outdoor booths have been sold, while 96 per cent have been booked in the Colosseum and the Tom Zandee Sports Arena is 85 per cent booked. |
