Weyburn experiences cooler temps in February

Weyburn broke one record low in February, maintaining overall lower temperatures throughout the month while experiencing slightly above precipitation.

On Feb. 14, while hearts were warm due to St. Valentine's Day, temperatures dropped to -34 degrees as this was the coldest day of the month, breaking the previously-set record of -32 degrees.

The maximum temperature of the month only reached 6 degrees, on Feb. 20, and with the average high temperature of the month being -10.6 degrees, it was sharply colder than the long-term average of -6.2 degrees.

This cold weather continued throughout the month with the average low temperature reaching -19.43 degrees with the long-term average being -15.98 degrees. The mean temperature for the month was -15.08 degrees with the long-term average being -11.08 degrees.

The city received a total of 24.4 mm (water equivalent) of precipitation in February, above the long-term average of 13.8 mm.

The total winter precipitation for the winter, from Oct. 1, 2006, to February 28, 2007, was 101.8 mm of snow, higher than the long-term average winter snowfall of 85.2 mm.
