Twirlers Square Dance Club hold annual meeting

The Weyburn Twirlers Square Dance Club held their annual general meeting on March 16 with 24 members in attendance.

In his report, President Norm Eggum commented on behalf of himself and his wife Helen that the 2005-2006 dance season was a very successful year.

They hosted 18 regular dances, two zone workshops as well as the "All Callers Dance," recognizing three retired callers from the zone: Bob and Rae Nurse of Moose Jaw, Don and Frankie Mortenson of Estevan and Bill and Isabel Schmidt of Rockglen.

The Twirlers have changed their regular dance night to Thursdays, instead of Fridays.

They have danced at several of the long-term care homes for the residents as well as the Weyburn Communithon this season.

The club hosted the annual summer get-together for all dancers at the gazebo in Riverside Park. Plans are being made to host another get-together in August of this year.

An expression of gratitude was given to Helen and Henry Kostiuk for their many years of service as the lunch convener couple. Margaret Lukey volunteered her services to make a schedule for helpers for each dance.

The lineup of callers and dances for the upcoming season have been made and will be distributed. Bob and Marion Lees of Estevan have been calling the club's dances on a regular basis.
