Taking in bids

Auctioneers Don Baillie, Dale Renz and Richard Klein from the Weyburn Young Fellows make sure the tally board is up-to-date during their 50th annual TV Auction on Saturday. This year the auction was moved to the curling rink as the event simply outgrew its old location at McKenna Hall. On hand for the auction were the Royal Regina Rifles, who gave demonstrations of their combat gear throughout the day. All of the money raised from the TV Auction will be put towards the new water spray park.

Touring Panther's new rig

A group has a tour on the main drilling floor of Panther Drilling's Rig No. 2, including MLA Dustin Duncan, centre, during the local company's open house on Friday at their shop on Highway 39 southeast of Weyburn. Representatives of the vendors and suppliers for the second rig, along with representatives of local oil companies, were on hand for a barbecue lunch and a tour of the rig, which will leave for drilling once spring road bans are lifted at the end of April.
