Old Tyme fiddle contest awards top performers

The top fiddlers who took part in the Weyburn seventh annual Old Tyme Fiddle contest were awarded at the event held at McKenna Hall on Saturday.

In the novice category, for those aged 12 and under, Raymond Knorr of Regina placed first; Adam Fawcett of Weyburn placed second; Kelsey Schmidt of Regina placed third; and Autumn Alexander of Weyburn placed fourth.

In the junior category, for those aged 18 and under, Derek Rude of Lake Alma placed first; Kyle Fawcett of Weyburn placed second; and Elisa Fawcett of Weyburn placed third.

In the seniors category, for those 65 and older, Bill Brinda of Regina placed first; Fred Easton of Kenosee Lake placed second; Arnold Finan of Saskatoon placed third; Alex Allary of Theodore placed fourth; and Paul Olson of Canwood placed fifth.

In the open category, Lionel McCorrison of Tisdale placed first; Bernie McLellan of Delisle placed second; and Michelle Army of Carlyle placed third.

In the Championship class, James Steele of Saskatoon placed first; Dale Amyotte of Saskatoon placed second; and Laura Soucy of Arborfield placed third.

In the twin fiddling category Laura Soucy of Arborfield and James Steele of Saskatoon placed first; and Kyle and Elisa Fawcett of Weyburn placed second.

In the novelty class, Kyle Fawcett of Weyburn placed first and Laura Soucy of Arborfield placed second.
