Barn destroyed in blaze

Firefighters get hoses in place to protect property as a barn is allowed to burn on the John McKinney farm southwest of Weyburn on Wednesday morning, as extremely high winds blow through the area. A farm neighbour has a large tanker of water, at right, which was used to help control the spread of the fire, along with water from a dugout on the farm located 6.5 km west of the livestock exchange. Some sheds and two barns were destroyed in the fire, which spread from a smoldering pile of baler twine burned a few days before when unusually strong winds arose on Wednesday. No one was injured in the fire, but a bull was killed. Wind speeds reached in excess of 60 km an hour, and produced wind warnings on both Wednesday and Thursday in the area.
