Nexen Inc. executive vice-president and chief financial officer Marvin Romanow has been confirmed as the guest speaker for the awards luncheon for the Saskatchewan Oil and Gas Show on Wednesday, June 6

Romanow, a native of Canora, Sask., holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree with great distinction and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Saskatchewan.

Romanow has over 25 years of experience starting with Dome Petroleum in Calgary with positions in engineering, operations, finance and planning beginning in 1980. In 1988, Romanow became the financial manager at Amoco Canada before moving on to become the vice-president of planning and development at Wascana Energy Inc. in Regina.

In 1992, Romanow became the vice-president of exploration and production before Wascana Energy was purchased by Nexen in 1997 and Romanow was appointed vice-president of finance.

He became the chief financial officer for Nexen in 1998 and added the title of senior vice-president in 1999. Romanow gained his current position as executive vice-president and CFO in 2001. He is a director of the Canadian Energy Research Institute (CERI) and the Private Sector Sponsors of CERI. Romanow has been a member of the Canexus board since the fund began.

"I think this is going to be a big draw and he should be an excellent speaker," said Oil and Gas Show manager Marlene Nedelcov.

The Petroleum Services Association (PSAC) of Canada will be giving their forecast on Wednesday, June 6 in the afternoon with the awards banquet in the evening. The Weyburn Comprehensive School STARS Show Choir have confirmed to perform before the banquet.

On Thursday, June 7, PSAC will be holding a breakfast in the morning and "Instigational speaker" Kevin Burns speak at the luncheon, with the show wrapping up around 3:30 p.m.

Volunteers are needed for the registration desk for the Saskatchewan Oil and Gas Show. There will be two or three shifts each day that need to be filled. Anyone interested can call Nedelcov at the Oil and Gas Show office.

There are 72 organizations on the waiting list for booths. Now that the ground is dry, the outside exhibition area was expanded for 11 more booths, but all spaces were sold instantly.

The Saskatchewan Oil and Gas Show will be taking place on Wednesday, June 6 and Thursday, June 7 at the Exhibition Grounds.
