Nickle Lake Regional Park opening on long weekend

Nickle Lake Regional Park will be open to the public on the May long weekend.

Campers and visitors to the park are reminded that the May long weekend will be alcohol-free and this will be enforced with zero tolerance. Glass bottles will also be prohibited from the park.

A boat launching fee will be charged for the first time at Nickle Lake this season. The cost is $5 per day or $20 for a season pass. All of the money from the boat launch fees will go towards the boat dock.

Something new this year for boaters will be a boat parking lot located north of the boat launch. This will be a place for campers to park their trailers while they are out on their boat and to wipe down their boat when they are finished.

Twenty new sites have been added to the park, while 50 people are on the waiting list. Those on the waiting list are asked not to call Nickle Lake regarding sites. The Regional Park will contact them regarding sites within the next couple of weeks. Nickle Lake will not be taking any more people on the waiting list this year.

There has been an upgrade on the electrical sites due to the lack of power. Because of the rising cost of power, there will be a slight increase in fees for seasonal sites.

The cafeteria at Nickle Lake is under new management and, something new this year, they will be selling homemade pizza.

Upcoming events this summer at Nickle Lake include a ball tournament from Friday, May 25 to Saturday, May 27 and the Cancer Jamboree on Saturday, June 23 and Sunday, June 24.
