Grades 4-7 students and representatives of local oil
companies work together to plant new trees in front of Midale
Central School on May 7. From left to right, Taylor Hoium watches
as Aspen Orsted digs in with a shovel to plant a tree along with
Russ Scharnatta of Enerplus. Watching behind Aspen are Ashley
Krueger and Kim Brasseur. The tree-planting was part of an educational
and environmental program called Energy in Action, in which students
also learned about renewable and non-renewable resources, about
every products made from petroleum, and ways they can work together
to preserve the environment. The companies were in partnership
with the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers along with
Inside Education to hold this event. |
