Comp golfer wins home tournament

David Wagner shot 70 to win the boys' event at the Weyburn Comprehensive School's Invitational Golf Tournament on Wednesday at the Weyburn Golf Club.

There was a three-way tie for second place for the boys between two golfers from Sheldon Williams Collegiate in Regina and an Estevan golfer. Also competing for the Comp boys were Mackenzie Sanders, Tanner Erickson, Damian Tiffen, Brody Hepp, Phil Kwasnica, Conner Tant, Nathan Walliser, Schenley Borys and Mark Henderson from the Weyburn Junior High.

In the girls' event, the winner was Kristin Klatt from Bert Fox School in Fort Qu'Appelle with second going to Kristine Klatt from Bert Fox. Competing from the Comp for the girls was Ali Hilkewich, Chantel Kilback and Jessica Pyett.

The top three teams from the tournament were Bert Fox School in first place, Estevan in second place and Sheldon Williams in third place.

"It was a great day. We just couldn't believe that there was no wind," said WCS golf coach Rod Nieviadomy.

The next tournament for the Weyburn Comprehensive School golf team will be today, May 23, in Estevan.
