Proszak wins four national silhouette shooting titles

Pawel Proszak of Weyburn took home all four titles at the Canadian National Silhouette Championships from July 1-7 in Cranbrook, B.C.

Proszak won the Canadian National Silhouette Championship in Silhouette and Hunting .22-calibre rifle categories; winning five out of six matches and losing only one match by only one point guaranteed him a spot at the top of the standings.

In the Silhouette rifle category, Proszak set a national resident record for highest score shot at the Canadian Championships with 107 out of a possible 120 points. Proszak also won the Highest Scoring Canadian trophy for the sixth consecutive year in both rifles.

"I am very pleased with my wins. One of my goals is to attend the U.S. Nationals, unfortunately, this year's U.S. Nationals are held in Ratoon, N.M. right after our (championships) and this gives me no time to travel and get ready. I would love to shoot in the U.S. Nationals in the near future," Proszak said.

In the high-power rifle competition, Proszak won all of his matches. He shot three matches in the hunting rifle category and three matches in the standard rifle category.

"I believe this is the first time that the same person has won all four national titles," Proszak said.

This is Proszak's fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth Canadian National Championship titles.

As for the equipment, Proszak uses Lap ammunition and reloading components. All his rifles are equipped with Bausch and Lomb Elite 4200 scopes and his rifles are built by Saskatchewan barrel maker and gunsmith Ted Gaillard of Melfort.
