The Signal Hill Art Centr 'Just For Girls' summer program needs participants. It is a five-week program run by Kristen Betker and Kayla Rieger, and is open to girls aged 11 to 15. The Just for Girls program was designed to help boost the self-esteem of young teenage girls, and there are hopes to have featured visits from a fitness instructor and dance instructor. Week one of the program centres around 'Creations', inspiring the girls to make their own jewelry, lotions and face masks. Week two is 'Become a Healthier You' and will discuss self-esteem, healthy eating and physical activity for the girls to make a part of their lifestyle. A Mardi Gras celebration is the centre of week three, with a Mardi Gras party planned with other activities. In week four the girls can 'Get Beautified' from a visit from a hair stylist and a before and after make-over with pictures taken. The program ends in week five with 'Ending to a Great Summer'. The girls will plan a Hawaiian Luau and make a scrapbook of their experience. It is a great way for any girl to enjoy the summer, however the program needs participants to be run. To register for 'Just For Girls' program, contact the Signal Hill Art Centre or e-mail aneufield@weyburn.ca for more information. |
