Local couple have 'lucky seven' baby

Something that happens once in a century occurred just recently, as we have just passed the seventh day of the seventh month of the seventh year of this century (July 7, 2007). Hoping that some good luck from all those sevens would rub off them, hundreds of couples went to the altar to be wed. But for a local Weyburn couple, something even more miraculous and 'lucky seven' occurred.

Mykelle Orreanna Doud, daughter of Courtney (Storle) and Orry Doud, was born with a lot of sevens tied to her birth. Not only was she born on July 7 at the Regina General Hospital, but she was also born at 7:20 p.m. and weighed in at seven pounds and three ounces. Too add another seven to it all, Courtney was seven days overdue and there was no unnatural inducement to encourage little Mykelle to come on July 7.

The sevens do not stop there. Mykelle is the seventh grandchild for Juliette Storle and the seventh granddaughter for Jim and Jean Doud. She has seven living grandparents, and between Courtney and Orry's siblings, she has seven living aunts and uncles.

Her first name, Mykelle, even has seven letters, and her middle name is a combination of her father's name (Orry) and Courtney's sister Deanna, who passed away in 1997.

Courtney continues to be amazed at the number of sevens that keep popping up. "Everyone thinks that it is a very neat coincidence, how everything ties together. We figure that when Mykelle gets older and joins with any sports team, seven will just have to be her number."

Courtney is a hair dresser with a home-based salon, so she can raise Mykelle in the comfort of her home. Orry works for Miller Well Servicing. Both have been in Weyburn for two and half years, and were married last year on June 24. Orry grew up in the Lake Alma and Radville area, and Courtney grew up in Lake Alma; they were 'Kindergarten' sweethearts, meeting their first year at school.
