Weyburn broke four records for high temperatures in July, maintaining above-average temperatures throughout the month while experiencing below-average precipitation. The highest temperature of the month was set on July 24, when the temperature rose to 42.5 degrees and broke the record high of 35 degrees set in 1958 and 1989. This also broke the all-time record temperature of the year, with the previous high of 40.5 degrees being set on July 7, 1988. Other records set for the month include the high of 37 degrees on July 23 that tied the record high set in 1960, a high of 39 degrees on July 29 that broke the record of 38 degrees set in 1975 and a high of 37 degrees on July 30 that broke the record high of 35.5 degrees set in 1988. It had been an overall hot month for Weyburn, as the average high temperature was 30.3 degrees, above the long-term average of 26.5 degrees. Even the average low temperature of 15.4 degrees was higher than the long-term average of 12.3 degrees. The mean temperature for the month was 22.9 degrees, warmer than the long-term average of 19.4 degrees. It was also a dry month for Weyburn and the total precipitation was 28 mm, almost half of the long-term average of 58.6 mm. |
