A steer wrestler leans off his horse to grab onto
the steer, during competition at the Weyburn Rodeo, which was
held at the Exhibition grounds on Saturday and Sunday. There
were 17 competitors in the steer wrestling during the weekend,
including local rider Jason Schmidt from Weyburn who had his
draw on Sunday. The Weyburn Rodeo was held in conjunction with
the Weyburn Wheat Festival, and both events were attended with
hundreds of people despite the cloudy, windy weather of the weekend.
Events included with the Weyburn Wheat Festival were the art
and trade show at Signal Hill, Heritage Days at Heritage Village,
the Weyburn Farmer's Market and wheat show at the City Centre
Mall, the Horticultural Show at Knox Hall, performances and children's
activities at River Park and historical displays at the Soo Line
Museum. During the Sunday performance of the Weyburn Rodeo, riders
and the audience were challenged to see if they were "Tough
Enough to Wear Pink", in an effort to raise awareness for
Breast Cancer and raise funds to help promote research towards
a cure. |
