Weyburn Midget Beaver players Derek Geisler and Jon Neuberger helped Team Saskatchewan place fourth at the Canada Cup tournament.

The tournament got off to a slow start as Saskatchewan's first game against Quebec on Wednesday was canceled due to rain.

Play finally got underway on Wednesday evening with Saskatchewan taking a 4-1 victory over British Columbia. Neuberger was 0-2 at the plate. In the first inning, Neuberger struck out swinging and, in the second, he walked and stole second base. In the sixth inning, Neuberger flied out.

The boys were back at it on Thursday morning as they met up with Quebec and picked up a 8-4 victory. Quebec held a 4-0 lead after the top of the third inning, but Saskatchewan responded with eight unanswered runs.

Neuberger was 0-1 at the plate, including two walks, a hit by ball and he struck out swinging. Geisler was left to the bullpen for this match-up.

On Thursday evening, Saskatchewan was handed their first loss of the tournament, as they dropped a 6-1 decision to Ontario. Geisler took the loss as the starting pitcher for Team Saskatchewan.

Friday morning saw Saskatchewan play their second game against Ontario and take a 6-5 loss. Geisler took the loss as the starting pitcher for Team Saskatchewan.

On Saturday morning, Team Saskatchewan earned back a win after taking a 5-3 game from Quebec. Geisler earned the win as the starting pitcher, and went four innings with two hits, no runs, no errors and six men walked to base.

Geisler also singled in the top of the first inning for two runs-batted-in, and in the third inning after being walked to third, he advanced to home after an error to earn a Saskatchewan run.

Sunday morning saw Saskatchewan play British Columbia and lose that game 2-0. This moved them to the Bronze level in the finals, playing against Ontario.

Team Saskatchewan suffered a third loss to Ontario, losing the bronze medal in a 9-2 game. This placed the team fourth overall in the Canada Cup.
