Overwhelmed with animals

Janna Holtz of the Weyburn Humane Society sits with some of the animals of the shelter, demonstrating how overcrowded the kennels have gotten at the Humane Society over the summer. There are currently 23 cats and 19 dogs that belong to the Humane Society; only six of these are currently on trial adoptions, creating an overcrowded state at their location. The Weyburn Humane Society is looking for good homes for each of these animals, instead of having to look at animal euthanasia. In the kennel, from left to right, are basset hound Copper, boxer-cross Ninja, rottweiler-shepherd Mandy, rottweiler-great Pyrenees Bob and German shepherd Scooter. In Jenna's lap are kittens Moonbeam, Bibs, Moocha and Charlie. At her feet are currently unnamed puppies, which are a rottweiler-cross.

Diving into the grass

The new Atom team, the Weyburn Credit Union Atom Eagles, joined the Peewee Junior Eagles at practice as both squads will be participating in the Regina Minor Football League. The first game of the season for both squads was August 20, with the Atom program having six games this season and the Peewee program having eight league games.
