Graham DeLaet placed in a tie for 10th with a 10-under-par at the Montreal Open on the Canadian Professional Golf Tour this past weekend. For his efforts, DeLaet picked up a cheque for $4,600 to move into 16th in the order of merit with $25,735 after 13 events. "I actually played really well. I was able to put together 63 holes of golf," said DeLaet. DeLaet began on Thursday by shooting an even-par 72 to move into a tie for 88th. On the front nine, he shot a five-under-par with birdies on the par-four first hole, par-five fourth, par-four sixth, par-five eighth and par-four ninth. On the back nine, DeLaet shot a bogey on the par-four 11th hole before double bogeying the par-four 12th hole. He finished the round with bogeys on the par-three 15th hole and the par-five 18th hole. Friday saw DeLaet make his big move up the leaderboard, shooting a five-under-par 67 to move into a tie for 19th place. After parring the first three holes, he shot an eagle on the fourth hole, but bogeyed the sixth hole. He hit the turn with birdies on the eighth and ninth holes to shoot three-under-par on the front nine. DeLaet bogeyed the 10th hole, but rebounded with a birdie on the 11th hole. He finished the round with birdies on the par-four 16th and par-three 17th hole and par on the 18th hole. In the third round on Saturday, DeLaet moved up six spots to 13th place at six-under-par after shooting an one-under-par 71. The only mark DeLaet made on his scorecard of the front nine was a birdie on the eight hole. DeLaet moved to two-under-par with a birdie on the 11th hole, but shot a bogey on the 12th hole. He ended the round with a birdie on the 15th hole and a bogey on the 17th hole. In the final round, DeLaet shot a four-under-par 68 in a bogey-free round. He shot birdies on the par-three third hole and the par-four fifth hole. He then birdied the par-five 15th hole and the 18th hole. "It is always nice to have a clean scorecard. I would have like to put a few more birdies on it, but I guess a golfer is never happy," DeLaet said jokingly. Going into the next tournament this week DeLaet knows exactly what needs to happen in order for him to win. "I just have to put together four rounds of golf. My putter is coming around which it hasn't almost all year," DeLaet said. The next event on the Canadian Tour will be the Jane Rogers Championship of Mississauga in Mississauga, Ont. |
