Crescent Point Bantam Wings sixth at tournament

The Weyburn Bantam AA Crescent Point Wings placed sixth out of 16 AAA teams from across North America this past weekend at the Medicine Hat Challenge AAA Bantam Hockey Tournament.

"We came up against some of the top AAA programs in western Canada and the U.S., to capture sixth place out of 16 teams was just unbelievable. The players came up big all weekend," said Murray Benson

The first game against the Phoenix Firebirds of Arizona saw a 5-5 tie. Brent Benson, the game's MVP, fired a hat trick and an assist during his first game. After 60 minutes of end-to-end playing action. Weyburn unwillingly came up short and surrendered an 8-4 loss against the Airdrie team. Weyburn welcomed back co-captain Reid Jackson, who was back from the injury list.

"This group of players are truly special. We played without injured co-captain Reid Jackson all weekend except for the final, but the other defencemen stepped up and did excellent. We proved we could play at this level of competition," said Murray Benson.
