Artists and craftspeople from the Wheatland-Souris Region will once again have an opportunity to display their work in the 25th annual James Weir People's Choice exhibition. This exhibition will run from Jan. 3 to 31, 2008, and will give artists and craftspeople the opportunity to display their work at the Allie Griffin Art Gallery, located on the lower level of the Weyburn Public Library. Gallery visitors throughout the month will vote for their favourite piece. A special reception will be held on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008, to honour the participants and to acknowledge the artists who received the top number of votes. Entries will be accepted by artists and craftspeople throughout the Wheatland-Souris region, which includes the communities of Weyburn, Stoughton, Radville, Lang, Milestone, Fillmore, Wilcox, Riceton, Cedoux, Corning, Pangman, Trossachs, Griffin, Ceylon, Goodwater, Minton, Lake Alma, Oungre, Yellow Grass, Colgate, Creelman, Forget, Gladmar, Hardy, Heward, Khedive, Handsworth, Kronau, Lajord, Parry, Osage, McTaggart, Ratcliffe, Talmage, Tyvan, Tribune, Beaubier, Bromhead, Bechard, Colfax, Davin, Dummer, Estlin, Froude, Gray, Lewvan, Maxim, Halbrite, Midale, Macoun, Ogema, Benson and Torquay. All ages can enter, and any medium can be entered. Participants are entitled to enter one piece of artwork, with the art ready for display or hanging. Criteria for pieces is originality, with nothing being accepted from a kit. Last year's winners are eligible for display, but are ineligible for voting. Entry forms are available from the Signal Hill Arts Centre and the Weyburn Public Library. Deadline for entry is Wednesday, Dec. 21. For more information call the Signal Hill Arts Centre.
