Santa brings Gainer to Weyburn

Santa Claus came all the way down from the North Pole to ride in the Parade of Lights and visit children in the City Centre Mall on Thursday evening, with his special guest 'Gainer' of the Saskatchewan Roughriders. There were roughly 40 floats in the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce Parade of Lights, which toured the downtown area to celebrate the Christmas season. Sitting with Santa and Gainer are Rylan Vandesype, Alex Richards and Emily Richards in the middle row and Keith Allin and Hanna Vandesype in the front row.

Cooking Club's first muffin batch

Teacher Kevin Butz hands out freshly-baked muffins to the members of the Grade 6 girls' cooking club at Assiniboia Park School on Thursday. The after-school club meets once a month, with boys meeting on a separate night, and they learn how to make a simple dish from start to finish. The girls taking part in learning about making muffins include Madison McFadden-Carver, Nicole Laird, Brooke Erickson, Andrie Bisson, Ashlee Sandiford (accepting a muffin), Haley Mack and Jade Roberts. About 90 per cent of the Grade 6 students at APES are in the cooking club, both boys and girls.
