| The year 2007 was a fairly good year for Midale,
according to mayor Allan Hauglum, with more lots being built
and an upgrade to the water system. "It was a fairly prosperous year," Hauglum said. "There were three new houses built and a couple of new trailers." Hauglum said that lots in the town are going quickly with only three older lots still for sale. He added that finding a place to rent is also very hard around the town. "We are working on a new subdivision with 10 to 15 new lots," Hauglum said. Midale Central School was also added to the Southeast Cornerstone School Division's non-viable list. Hauglum is hoping that, with the town growing, they will be able to work their way off of the list. There was also an upgrade to Midale's water treatment plant in 2007, including the addition of a 75,000-gallon reservoir. Mechanical upgrades were also made and was partially funded with a government grant. Hauglum added that the Midale Mustangs are playing senior hockey at the rink and have been keeping people entertained. Last year they made it to the Big Six Hockey League semifinal and they currently sit in first place. He also said that curling just recently started up and is also keeping people entertained. Hauglum feels that the outlook for 2008 looks very good for the Town of Midale. "The future looks very well with the success for the oil economy. Our community looks like it is going to thrive," he said. |
