Newest Weyburn resident of 2008

Candace (nee Hermann), Dustin and Nolan Stokes welcome Carter Lorne Stokes to their family, who was Weyburn's first resident born in the New Year. Due to the maternity ward being closed at the Weyburn General Hospital, Carter was born at the Regina General Hospital at 9:23 a.m. on January 2. He weighed seven pounds and six ounces and measured 20 inches long.

Setting up the James Weir exhibition

Curator Marnie Bernard helps set an acrylic piece by Ogema artist Bill Caird in place on Wednesday, as she set up the James Weir People's Choice exhibition in the Allie Griffin Art Gallery on the lower level of the Weyburn Public Library. The piece of artwork is entitled, After the Big Rain. The exhibition is now on through the month of January, open for voting by the public of their favourite item until Thursday, Jan. 31. The reception and awards presentations to the top works will take place on Sunday, Feb. 3, from 2 to 4:30 p.m., when the artists will be on hand to meet the public, at the Allie Griffin Gallery.
