Several figure skaters from the Weyburn Skating Club took part in the Magic City Invitational in Minot on Jan. 12 and 13. Ricki Giroux took home first place in the novice ladies freeskate and second in the novice survivor. Shirae Schidlowsky placed second in the junior/senior survivor and second in the junior ladies freeskate. Shelby Van De Woestyne placed second in the preliminary survivor, second in the preliminary compulsory moves and third in the preliminary girls freeskate. Charlene Cretin brought home a pair of medals, placing third in the junior/senior survivor and third in the junior ladies freeskate. Kym Berling finished in third place in the intermediate survivor and fourth in the intermediate ladies freeskate. Colleen Cretin came in second in the intermediate survivor, but placed sixth in the intermediate ladies freeskate. Anneliese Benning finished in fourth place in the beginner freeskate and placed fifth in the beginner survivor event. Taylor Forseth-Hala placed fourth in the pre-preliminary girls freeskate, sixth in the pre-preliminary compulsory moves and seventh in the pre-preliminary survivor. Carley Evans came in fourth place in the beginner freeskate event and sixth in the beginner survivor event. Brooke Erickson finished in fifth place in the preliminary girls freeskate and sixth in the preliminary survivor. The Weyburn Skating Club will be hosting their Weyburn First Competition with skating taking place throughout the day on Saturday, Feb. 2. |
