The 25th anniversary of the James Weir People's Choice Exhibition will be celebrated at a wine and cheese reception on Sunday, February 3, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at the Allie Griffin Art Gallery. At this reception, the Weyburn Arts Council will be announcing the winners of this year's People's Choice. Residents will also get a chance to view the works of 28 local emerging artists who had entered in the competition this year. As well, to celebrate the silver anniversary, past winners Yvette Moore, Garnet Hall, Jean Fahlman, Shannon Colbow and Barry Lautner will be speaking at the reception. It will also be an opportunity to get a sneak peak at the February art exhibition, "Clearing a Path", which includes the artworks of Saskatchewan's finest Indigenous artists working in traditional art forms. The Allie Griffin Art Gallery is located in the lower level of the Weyburn Public Library, at 45 Bison Avenue. There is no cost to attend the reception, however a silver collection will be taken. This event is sponsored by the Weyburn Arts Council. |
