Rotary Music Festival opens

Some of the first performers for the Weyburn Rotary Music Festival gather at the piano with the adjudicator on Monday morning at the T.C. Douglas Centre, as the annual music festival got underway with the piano competition. The piano competition runs all week until Friday, March 8, followed next week by the vocal portion from March 9 to 12, and the band-instrumental portion from March 12-14. The Stars of the Festival will wrap up the festival on Tuesday, March 18, when the top performers of the festival will awarded and scholarships handed out.

Wrapping up the opening ceremonies

Bagpiper Rod Stafford leads teams off of the ice to wrap up the opening ceremonies of the Women's Provincial Intermediate Curling Championship Thursday at the Weyburn Curling Club. This past weekend, 14 teams competed for the championship. The competition consisted of a three-pool round robin with eight teams moving on to a straight knockout draw.
