SE Science Fair held, two projects advance to nat'ls

The Southeast Regional Science Fair was held at "33" Central School in Fillmore on Wednesday, with two entrants now qualified for the Canada-Wide Science Fair in Ottawa. Chanse Weins, from Midale Central, will proceed further with his "Engines With No Fuel" project and Niki Beingessner and Jolene Kirkpatrick, from Avonlea School, will proceed with their "Smoke Detectors" project.

Earning gold in Junior Life Science were Aspen Orsted and Sierra Weins for their '3 Minus One' project on plants, taking silver was Logan Schindle and Cole Sjostrand for their 'Beans, Beans, the Musical Fruit' project, and winning bronze was Mark Jelinkski and Mackenzie Dombowsky for their 'Listen Up' project.

From Junior Physical Science gold was won by Niki Beingessner and Jolene Kirkpatrick for their 'Smoke Detectors' project, Tori Schick and Amber Ward earned silver for their 'Sprays Ablaze' project, and James Sippola and Robbie Downton placed bronze for their 'Dissolving Limestone' project.

Winning gold in Junior Engineering were Logan Lazurko and Dustin Wagner of Weyburn for their 'Preventing Mudslides' project, placing silver was Dave Beingessner for his 'Determining Optimim Launch Angle' project, and earning bronze was Jordan Jorstead and Clay Ludwar for their 'Trebuchet' project.

In Junior Biotechnology, Jeff Whitrow won gold for his 'DNA Identification' project and placing in silver were Scott Paslawski and Reid Richard for their 'New Cow Chow' project.

Placing gold in Intermediate Life Science were Paige Granger and Kristi Cobbe for their 'Cyber Bullying' project, earning silver was Bria Lubiens and Megan Hall for their 'Flax Snax: The Sequel' project, and taking bronze was James Dombowsky and Josh Jelinski for their 'Ice Fishing' project.

In Intermediate Physical Science, Michael Miller and Jenna Miller won gold for their 'Grain Market' project, Jess Rustad and Jean Marie Johnathen took silver for their 'Wow, That's Fast' project and Scott Armstrong and Travis Nestman earned bronze for their 'Chillin Cans' project.

Earning gold at the Intermediate Engineering level was Chanse Weins for his 'Engines With No Fuel' project, taking silver was Nathan Kirkpatrick and Levi Beingessner for their 'Inoculator' project, and tying for bronze was Ian Dunham and Skye Griep of Fillmore for their 'Don't Tip Me Over' project and Dakota Kosior and Keegan Lynch for their 'Blizzard FM' project.

Gold in Intermediate Computer Science was won by Shawn Geisler for his 'Focusing Signals for Better Wireless Network' project. Placing gold in Senior Life Science was Jocelynn Lam for her 'Acid Reflux-ion' project and earning silver was Carter Hoium and Breanne Palmer for their 'Sizzlin Bacteria' project. Lastly, Taylor Gonczy earned gold in Senior Enginerring for a 'Liar, Liar, Pants of Fire' project.
