Prime Minister visits facilities in area

Prime Minister Stephen Harper prepares to board a plane at the Weyburn Airport, after a visit to facilities in the Estevan and Weyburn area on March 25. The Prime Minister had been in Estevan to announce funding for the Clean Coal Plant, along with Premier Brad Wall and Federal Minister of Natural Resources, Gary Lunn. Preparing daffodils for sale

Volunteers with the Canadian Cancer Society prepare the daffodils to be sold and distributed to businesses this week, as part of their annual fundraising efforts in the southeast area. From left are Lucille Klein, Elaine Hutt, Bonnie Mactaggart, Vivian Weber, Faye Sanders and Julie Sellsted. The Cancer Society's Southeast Unit office received 115 boxes with 50 daffodils in each box. Distribution to businesses began on Monday, and the flowers will be on sale around the city and throughout the southeast all this week. Volunteers will be manning tables in the Weyburn Co-op, Wholesale Club, Wal-Mart and Canadian Tire, and today, April 2, there will be a Daffodil Tea held at the Legion Hall from 2-4 p.m.
