Regional Parks are ready for May long weekend

The Victoria Day long weekend is approaching, May 17 to 19, and many regional parks in the area will officially open for the season or are already open with special plans for the weekend.

Nickle Lake Regional Park, located seven kilometres southeast of Weyburn on Highway 39, will be open for the season on the Victoria Day long weekend and will remain open until the Labour Day weekend in September. With 255 campsites, both electrical and non-electrical, this campground also offers food service, concession, beach, picnic areas, playgrounds, lake with boat launch, ball diamonds and is conveniently located near the Weyburn Golf Course, an 18-hole grass green course.

Mainprize Regional Park, located halfway between Weyburn and Estevan on the Rafferty Reservoir, opened for the season on May 1, and will remain open for the season until Sept. 30. Plans for the May long weekend include a Spring Scramble at the golf course on Saturday, May 17, with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. On Sunday, May 18, there will be free pancake breakfast offered, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Mainprize has 50 full service sites; ten of those are 30 amp electrical sites, 34 are 20 amp electrical sites and the remainder are non-electric sites. There are also ten 15 amp overflow sites. Other attractions include a 18-hole golf course, beach, playground, lake with boat launch, nature trail, ball diamonds, laundromat, and overnight cabins.

Ogema Regional Park, located adjacent to the Town of Ogema on Highway 13, opened for the season on May 15 and will remain open until Sept. 15. It offers 14 electrical sites, 25 non-electrical sites, a nine-hole golf course with sand greens, an outdoor pool, picnic area, playground and mini-golf.

Oungre Memorial Regional Park, located 1.6 kilometres north of the junction between Highways 35 and 18, will also open for the season on the Victoria Day long weekend. It offers 30 amp and 15 amp electrical sites, a nine-hole golf course with sand greens, mini-golf, indoor pool with paddling pool and hot tub, picnic area, playground and fishing.

Ceylon Regional Park, located three kilometres east of Ceylon on Highway 377, will officially open for the season over the Victoria Day long weekend and will stay open until Labour Day weekend in September. Amenities include nine 15 amp sites, 12 30 amp sites, non-electrical sites, outdoor pool, beach, playground, picnic area and boat launch

Bengough and District Regional Park, located off Highway 34 by turning west on 7th avenue, opened for the season on May 1 and will remain open until Sept. 30. The site offers nine 30 amp electrical sites, eight 15 amp electrical sites, 17 non-electrical sites and overflow sites. There is also a nine-hole golf course with sand greens, an outdoor pool, picnic area, ball diamonds, horseshoe pits, playground and beach.

Radville-Laurier Regional Park, located on the outskirts of Radville at the intersection of Highways 28 and 377, will be opening during the Victoria Day long weekend and will stay open until October. This site offers 16 15 amp electrical sites and 30 non-electric sites, with access to an arena, minor ball diamonds and during the later summer months a swimming pool.
